Jellyfish
Poems from a fifth grader
Jellyfish are stronger than us They have lived longer than us This is their planet, really. It should be. There is even a kind that is immortal. If something goes wrong, They will just try again Some can make two out of one. One can make two And those two can make four. They are okay with salt water. And freshwater If it is water, they will find a way. They are delicate creatures, No heart or brain They lived with the dinosaurs So strong and brave So unlike them Yet jellyfish are still here and dinos are not. Some do sting And it may hurt. But don't blame them. They sting because they need it. They need it to survive. They have lived on the planet for longer than us. Much longer And they will probably live longer than us. And don’t forget They are so beautiful Swimming gracefully under the surface. Jellyfish rule this planet But no one notices They are taking over the world But no one notices They are amazing But no one notices That is why jellyfish rule the world.
